quick little update

I can't believe we are well into the month of October. This semester is going by faster then I expected!

My amount of free time has not changed. If someone who knew me last year, saw me reading, cooking, running, and spending time with friends this year...they would be shocked. I still get surprised with the amount of free time I have. Not that I'm complaining, not at all. I love it! I'm SO much more relaxed and happy. Truly happy.

I started cooking, each week I'm trying to make a Turkish recipe. Currently I've been on a bulgur kick. I made lentils and bulgur, and then I tried spinach, lentils and bulgur. Both turned out good...but only if you like lentils and bulgur. I visited Beria last weekend at Purdue, and I made her chocolate mint cookies, peynirli pogaca, and chocolate covered pretzels. For Aylin's birthday, I made her a triple layer lemon cake covered in fondant. I'll post a picture of the cake soon. It was quite an endeavor...fondant is harder to work with then I thought...it just always looked so easy on tv. I want to try to make sekerpare and a few Turkish soups. It's starting to get cold over here in Champaign, and I'm craving soup again.

I want to make a cookbook that contains all the recipes from the females in my family. Both my grandmothers have a recipe book. Slowly, I'm going to start collecting those recipes and put them all together in one cookbook. I think it would be an awesome keepsake item for my family. It will take a few years, but this cookbook is a long-term project I really want to have accomplished.

I'm also running. So far I've been able to run 4 or 5 times a week. I was never a runner, but I have a newfound love for it. I shouldn't say run, I should say jog. My pace is slow, but I can do 3miles/5K comfortably. I hope I can keep this up!

My roommates are amazing! We get along SO well. It's made this semester very enjoyable.

I got an interview! I was so excited when I found out! It wasn't from my 'dream' school but I'll take whatever I'm given. It's nice to know that I'm one step closer, and that I'm still in the game. I got a few rejections, none from schools I'm really concerned about. One interview, and the rest of my 16 MD applications are still pending. I have a feeling these next few months are going to be interesting...

That's mostly it for me. Everything is going well. No complaints. :)
